RISEAP’S 26th Executive Committee Meeting 2010 – at FIJI
Natadola, Fiji, 18th October 2010 - The Prime Minister of Fiji, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was the guest of Honour of the Presidential Dinner of the 26th Executive Committee Meeting of Regional Islamic Da’Wah Council of South East Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP) held at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf and Spa, Natadola, Fiji on Monday night,18th October 2010. There were about 100 guests attending the dinner hosted by RISEAP. Among the VIPs of the evening were the Attorney General Of Fiji, Acting High Commissioner of Malaysia, Mr. Nor Azam Mohd. Idrus.
In his welcoming specch to the delegates and guests, the Prime Minister commended the Fiji Muslim League (FML) who have been active since 1920s in providing early and secondary education for the Muslim society. The Commodore quoted the Quran and various Islamic traditions that emphasises the importance of knowledge. He is looking forward to RISEAP further participation in the education sector. The Prime Minister also urges the nation’s multiracial society to overcome the boundaries of race and ethnicity and participate in a just and fair society.
Riseap’s Deputy President, Br Riduan Wu in his speech, said that it was the second time Fiji became the venue of RISEAP’s EXCO meeting. He acknowledged the effort of Fiji Muslim League who has been self-reliance in doing its dakwah programs, building schools, mosques and other facilities to the local Muslims and those from the neighbouring islands. He expressed a gracious thanks on behalf of RISEAP to the Fiji Muslim League for the wonderful hospitality and reception.
The National President of FML, Mr. Hafizud Dean Khan welcomed the delegates from member country and expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister who accepted the invitation as the Guest of Honour of the Presidential dinner. On behalf of the Muslim community, he thank the Prime Ministerand his government have given the Muslim an equitable and fair treatment to the Fijian Muslims. RISEAP’s EXCO members were from Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
