Muslimah Course in Cambodia

RISEAP conducted a special intensive course for Muslimah at Masjid Al Anwar in Puk Bhau village, Kompong Cham, Cambodia, from 25 June 2011 to 01 July 2011 as a part of its da’wah mission to improve Islamic education in Cambodia. The Muslimah course is the first ever conducted by RISEAP in the area. A total of 63 women from several villages attended this 7-day course.
In 2010, RISEAP conducted a similar course for men in the same area. Since then, local Muslimah have again requested RISEAP to hold a course especially for women through the local Muslim leader, Senator, YB Haji Ahmad Marwan who is also President of Cambodia Islamic Association (CIA), a RISEAP member association in the country.
A simple Opening Ceremony was held on the 25th June 2011 at Masjid Al Anwar in Puk Bhau Village, (New Village in Cham). The ceremony began with Qur’an reading by Ust Ghufron Ibrahim, a participant of RISEAP Islamic course in 2011, followed by a speech by Ustaz Hussain Arsan, who represented YB Hj Ahmad Marwan. He thanked and praised RISEAP for spending time to conduct this course in a remote Muslim village in Kompong Cham and also advised the participants to pay full attention to all subjects taught by the teachers. Ust Nik Syahhriman Nik Mat of RISEAP also took time to brief the participants about the course and its objectives and thanked everyone involved in the project.
Among the subjects that was taught were the Concept of Islam, Iman and Ehsan, Fiqh Al Nisa’, The Six Pillars of Faith, Daily Prayers and its various types of Sunnah including Jama’ and Qasar, Various discussion on types of Shirk, fasting, Zakat, Haj & Ummrah, Janazah Preparation, Qur’an Reading and Hadith.
The class was divided into two sessions; a morning and afternoon sessions. However, a special qur’an class was held daily in the evening after Magrib prayer. Three teachers conducted the class namely Ust Nik Syahariman Nik Mat of RISEAP, Ust Saleh Musa and his wife, Ustazah Asmak Ismail, both are RISEAP da’wah worker assigned in Cambodia.
All 63 participants came from several villages in Kompong Cham Province namely Puk Bhau, Tropeang Thmor, Phum Srah, Phum Potien, Phum Thmey Srok Chlong, Phum Boroong Leu and Dong Kambet.
At the Closing Ceremony held on 30 June 2011, YB Hj Ahmad Marwan thanked RISEAP for conducting this course particularly to Tuan Hj Mohd Marzuki Mohd Omar, RISEAP General Secretary, who is very concerned about Islamic education for Muslims in Kompong Cham, Cambodia. Senator YB Hj Ahmad also presented the Certificate of Attendance to all participants and thanked them for taking time to attend this course.
