Vietnamese Muslims Keen to Study in Malaysia
Ust Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, an active da’wah workers and a member of Islamic Community of Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, made a brief visit to RISEAP on 23 November 2011 to discuss various issues pertaining da’wah activities in Vietnam particularly the education of the youths and requested that RISEAP to conduct a Qur’an course in Vietnam, if possible, early next year.
Ust Abdul Rahman is not only active in organizing Islamic classes and talks on Islam in Ho Chi Mihn City, but also concerned over the formal education among the youths in the country. One of his tasks is to bring local students to continue their studies at various Islamic schools in Malaysia particularly in Terengganu and at Insaniah University College in Kedah. To date, there are about 40 students from Vietnam are studying at Darussalam School in Kuala Ubai, Madrsah Qur’an in Kubang Pujok and Madrasah Mazohirul Ulum in Bukit Payong, Terengganu. Six more students will be attended Darussalam School for tahfiz next month. Some of them are pursuing their undergraduate studies at Insaniah University College. Ust Abdul Rahman also touched on problems of sponsorship for these students and is grateful if Muslim organizations and private sector could help them so that they can complete their studies as planned.
According to him, more students are interested to continue their studies in Malaysia since Islamic education in the country is designed merely for school children conducting at mosques around the country. He added that Muslim youths now are keen to learn more about in Islam. Currently, all mosques particularly in Ho Chi Mihn City provide basic Islamic classes and religious talks to the Muslims in the area.
During a brief meeting, RISEAP informed him about a seminar on women to be held in December 2011 and two participants from Vietnam are invited to attend this 3-day seminar in Kuala Lumpur. Ust Abdul Rahman thanked RISEAP for the invitation and agreed to look for two potential candidates to attend the women seminar as requested by RISEAP. However, it is difficult to find the candidates who are able speak and understand the Malay language. The seminar on women will be held in Kuala Lumpur on 19-23 December 2011.
To conduct his activity more effectively, Ust Abdul Rahman has gathered some of the youths who had attended RISEAP Imam Course since past few years to give full support and as back up to his project. Among them are Ust Math Rosali, Br Sanawy Ibrahim, Br Salleh Ali, Ust Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, Br Demalux, Br Ahmad Atry, Br Mohamad Amin and Sis Roslinda Ismail.
RISEAP is concerned about the education of Muslims in Vietnam and will also try its best to assist students in Malaysia, Insha Allah. As a part of its da’wah activities in Vietnam, RISEAP conducted a one-week Imam course in Ho Chi Mihn City in early 2010 when 27 imam from different mosques in the city attended. The course was held at Masjid Jamiul Muslimin, Ho Chi Mihn City.
RISEAP Executive Secretary, Mohammad Shafiq Ong thanked Ust Abdul Rahman, Ust Musa Abdul Kadir and Ust Ahmad Ilyas for their visit and briefing the latest da’wah activities in Vietnam.
