Sister Chiang Ka Yan Christy or Hanan Chiang, 21, is a Hong Kong Chinese Muslimah. Currently, studying English and Arabic in University of Hong Kong. She took ‘Syahadah’ in October 2010. She grew up in an atheist family and was proud of it. The seven years she spent at a Christian high school only increased her loath of organized religion. RISEAP organized its Seminar on Healthy Food on 20 December 2011 at Grand Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. It was presented by Puan Norazah Ahmad, Head of Assistant Director (Nutrition and Health) from Jabatan Kesihatan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (JKWPKL). As a norm, RISEAP invited several participants from various member organizations to attend Islamic course held at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Among the participants who took part in our last course was Sis Chuang, Jung, better known as Lo’ Lo’, a Muslimah from Republic of China. She is a rare convert Muslimah from Taiwan to join the course.

The month of Ramazan is celebrated in Sri Lanka just like it would be in any other country. A day in Ramazan starts with the Sahar (Pre-dawn Meal). Sister Math Islamiyas, 23, is a Cham Muslim from Kandal Province, Cambodia. She is a student of elite university, Norton University in Phnom Penh. She was a volunteer as Peer Education with the CARE Organization and currently is a broadcaster and DJ at a radio station in Cambodia. It is a well known fact that Malaysian people celebrate Hari Raya differently compared to other countries that celebrates this festivity. Aidilfitri is celebrated for the whole month of Syawal here in Malaysia but only the first two days is observed as public holidays.
