RISEAP Islamic Course Started at IIUM

RISEAP in cooperation with International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) launched its Islamic Course (Level 2) on 21 February 2011 at IIUM in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, with a total of ten participants from seven countries invited from RISEAP member organizations in this region namely Cambodia, Fiji, Malaysia, PNG, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand attended a one-month course.

RISEAP Ex-Participants Remain Active at USIA

One of the most special moments during a RISEAP trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah between 22-26 December 2010 was not only to enjoy Sabah exotic sea food, wonderful scenery or have a cup of nice Sabah tea but the unplanned meeting with several of USIA staff who were familiar to us, ex-participants of RISEAP training programmes some years ago.
RISEAP delegation made a courtesy call to USIA Secretary General, Datuk Hj Arshad Hj Idris and his staff on 23 December 2010. Upon arrival at USIA office, located on Jalan Sembulan, we were welcomed by Secretary General and his staff. Kota Kinabalu, Sabah – It is a very special event for RISEAP staff to have an opportunity to visit Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, almost 3-hour fly from Kuala Lumpur, especially when it made a courtesy call to its only member organization in the state, the United Sabah Islamic Association (USIA) on 23 December 2010. A group of RISEAP staff led by its Secretary General, Tuan Hj Mohd Marzuki Mohd Omar made a historical visit to USIA, which is located right in the middle of beautiful city of Kota Kinabalu, and were given a very warm welcome by its Secretary General YBhg Datuk Hj Arshad Hj Idris and his staff.

Convention on Awareness through Mosque Tour Launched at ILIM
Kuala Lumpur, 07 December 2010. Islamic Outreach ABIM in association with Discover Islam of Bahrain organized it’s first ever convention on Awareness through Mosque Tour from 6-11 December 2010 at Institute of Islamic Training Malaysia (ILIM), Selangor, Malaysia.
The 6-day convention’s objective was to discuss the effectiveness of da’wah activities via mosque tour and to explore opportunity of using the mosque as a place of inviting others to understand Islam, besides, to provide awareness to Muslims on the importance of mosque and how to convey simple but effective messages of Islam and good experiences to non-Muslims while visiting mosque.

CAMBODIA – AIDIL ADHA
Tuesday 16th November 2010 - ISLAMIC UNION of HONG KONG (IUHK) donated 27 cattle and 5 goats to the various deserving Muslim communities of Cambodia. RISEAP’s Secretary General, Mohd. Marzuki Omar and his officer, Shafiq Abdullah made the trip to Phonem Penh on official duty at the same time representing IUHK to give away the cattle and goats to the selected villages.

ARMY LIFE IN THE JUNGLE – OPERATION DURING RAMADHAN
- After the Second World War, Malaysian security was still being threaten by Communist Insurgency from 1948 to 1960 and was declared as Emergency Period. The state of insecurity continued until December 1989 when the Communist Insurgence was subdued by the authority and laid down their weapon and ceased the aggression against the government. Within those 40 years of struggles, Malaysian Security agencies comprised of the Military, Police and other departments made a joint cohesive effort in fighting insurgences from the fringes to the deep virgin jungle.
