RISEAP Staff Visit USIA
Usia And Riseap Staff
Kota Kinabalu, Sabah – It is a very special event for RISEAP staff to have an opportunity to visit Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, almost 3-hour fly from Kuala Lumpur, especially when it made a courtesy call to its only member organization in the state, the United Sabah Islamic Association (USIA) on 23 December 2010. A group of RISEAP staff led by its Secretary General, Tuan Hj Mohd Marzuki Mohd Omar made a historical visit to USIA, which is located right in the middle of beautiful city of Kota Kinabalu, and were given a very warm welcome by its Secretary General YBhg Datuk Hj Arshad Hj Idris and his staff.

CAMBODIA – AIDIL ADHA
Tuesday 16th November 2010 - ISLAMIC UNION of HONG KONG (IUHK) donated 27 cattle and 5 goats to the various deserving Muslim communities of Cambodia. RISEAP’s Secretary General, Mohd. Marzuki Omar and his officer, Shafiq Abdullah made the trip to Phonem Penh on official duty at the same time representing IUHK to give away the cattle and goats to the selected villages.

PUTRA MOSQUE – KUALA LUMPUR
- Putra Mosque was built in 1997 located beside Dataran Perdana overlooking Putrajaya Lake. It was completed and given to JAKIM officially on 1st September, 1999. It took two years to complete the whole building of the mosque. Putra Mosque was named in honour of Malaysian first Prime Minister Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj. FASTING IN MALAYSIA RELATIVE TO OTHER MINORITY MUSLIM COUNTRIES
FASTING DURING RAMADHAN in majority Muslim country and other minority Muslim countries differ. Perhaps, not that much, but there are differences nonetheless. For instance, in Malaysia the fasting month begins when the official announcement via television or radio after sighting the moon. The special announcement is made by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal after the consent by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong with the consensus of the Rulers of other states. Perhaps, in minority Muslim countries there is no specific bodies to announce the date to start fasting. Sometimes, each state has its own bodies or their own institutions to fix the date of fasting.

RISEAP Conducts Islamic Training Course in Cambodia
Kampong Phluk Phau
RISEAP launched an intensive Islamic course for religious teachers in Kampong Phluk Phau, District of Ponhea Krek, Kompong Cham, from 26 June to 2 July 2010. Twenty participants comprising young teachers cum imam from various mosques in the area attended this one-week course.
In March 2010, RISEAP had conducted a similar course for Imam in Ho Chi Mihn City, Vietnam, where 30 Imam from different mosques around Ho Chi Minh City attended the course which was lasted for 10 days..
